The BOLLES Kart Racing Series presented by WILD THING KARTS

Race Events sponsored by - R&L Paving

The 2007 season of the Bolles Kart Racing Series closed in dramatic style with all seven categories for the Wild Thing Championship going down to the wire.  With R&L Paving supporting the evening’s activities, it was a show the fans won’t soon forget.

In addition to the full-card of scheduled activities, the first event of the evening would be the Medium Main postponed from last week.  With Pro-Karts sponsoring the event and a posted purse in excess of $400.00, expectations were high that this race would be incredible.  No one was disappointed.

Though the weather had dumped much cooler temperatures then the previous event, it was much better than the rain that intervened last week. Tonight's racers would experience super track, and weather conditions for their contest.  All twenty racers that qualified were again signed into the Bolles Series paddock prepared for the competition.

Pro-Karts Presents - The Medium Main

The Medium Main began with some of the hardest charging drivers at the front.  The 2006 Champion, Matt Fenn (1) along with Geoffrey Stevenson (9) occupied the front row.  A bit further back would be Matt Richard (29) Wesley Spencer (83) and Dan Wilson (18).

These drivers seem to have the potential to win week-in-and week-out…but the domination of Glen Meisenhelder (41) has kept them from achieving the top spot.

Meisenhelder would start the Main from 5th.

The Green Flag would wave and Matt Fenn (1) would begin his push at the front.  Sliding immediately into 2nd, Geoffrey Stevenson (9) looked very impressive.  Already on track for a podium position would be Meisenhelder (41) up to 3rd.  The three-some looked wicked fast down the front stretch.

Entering turn one at lap two, Matt Fenn (1) looses the nose of his Kart and slides wide.  Stevenson (9) pounces for the spot and steals the lead down the back straight.  At the opposite end of the speedway Johnny Lennoid (12) would spin from mid-pack.  He would quickly gather his Kart and rejoin the field towards the rear.

Gary Stevenson (9) now leads the Karts of Matt Fenn (1), Glen Meisenhelder (41), Wesley Spencer (83) John Duval (04) Jeremy Quellette (21) and Cory Pearl (38) at lap three; all seven racers are very capable of podium positions.

Lap four comes and goes with nearly every Kart lapping at track record times.  Matt Fenn (1), continuing to have difficulty with his Kart, drops a spot.  It is know Glen Meisenhelder in 2nd.

Over the next three laps Glen Meisenhelder (41) shadows every move Geoffrey Stevenson (9) makes.  They are incredibly quick and smooth while running bumper-to-bumper inches apart.  Bump drafting over every inch of raceway they stretch their advantage.  The next lap sees Matt Fenn (1) lose another spot as John Duval (04) continues a nice charge.

Lap seven and Glen Meisenhelder (41) dives below Stevenson's (9) Kart entering turn-one and grabs the top spot away.  Immediately gaining a two-Kart advantage over Stevenson (9), in his eagerness he nearly brushes the backstretch wall.  A bit further back Cory Pearl (38) advances past a sliding Fenn (1) and into 4th place.

Before Meisenhelder (41) could add more distance, the caution flies allowing Stevenson (9) to gain back the top spot.

The order at lap seven sees Geoffrey Stevenson (9) leading Glen Meisenhelder (41) John Duval (04) Cory Pearl (38) Matt Fenn (1) Wesley Spencer (83) Jeff Stepina (18x) Jeremy Quellette (21) Mike Spencer (84) Dan Wilson (18) Jeff Nooney (23) Shawn Marquis (73) and Chris McMechen (47).

John Kopec (M6) who has been testing motor configurations for Wild Thing Karts pits at this time.  Running motors that are nearly half the cost, he has had lap times equal to, and above the times of Duval, Meisenhelder and the other to runners.

At the re-start Glen Meisenhelder (41) would jump to the outside of Stevenson (9), while from the third row Matt Fenn (1) would stab his Kart under Duval (04) Stevenson (9) and Cory Pearl (38).  It would be three-wide racing down the front stretch entering turn one with all five Karts inches apart.  Pearl (38) would stay the course and move to 4th place with Fenn (1) forced to 5th.  Loosing in the affair would be a sliding John Duvall (04).

A bit further back three-wide racing continued with Dan Wilson (18) powering into 8th place ahead of Geoff Nooney (23).  John Duvall (04) would lose another spot a lap later, allowing Jeremy Quellette (21) to enter the top five.  Duvall (04) was know 6th.

Geoffrey Stevenson (9) was now pressed firmly back in 2nd.  Not wanting anything to do with side-by-side racing, Glen Meisenhelder (1) would smooth his entry, and pick-up his straight speed.  It also appeared Geoffrey Stevenson (9) began loosing a bit down the straight.  Wesley Spencer (83) still looked solid in 3rd, as did Pearl (38) in 4th.

With Meisenhelder (41) firmly in control he would lead until caution arrived at lap ten.

Having his race go terribly wrong Jeff Stepina (18x) gets tied together with another competitor.  He drops from 8th place.

The race gets back to Green Flag competition and Matt Fenn (1) drops his Poker face.  Lap number nine he launches his Kart to the inside of Cory Pearl (38) and powers to 4th.

A lap later, now ten into the book, Matt Fenn (1) assaults another position.  Moving to the inside of Wesley Spencer (83) he vaults his Kart into 3rd.

It is now Green-White Checkered.  The largest purse offered at Stafford Speedway for the Medium drivers is about to be recorded and everyone in the top five is hoping their name is written.

Taking an another win during the season 2007 and the $200.00 Victory is Glen Meisenhelder (41).  A solid 2nd place run goes to Geoffrey Stevenson (9), while Matt Fenn has his best finish of the Stafford Season in 3rd.

A strong 4th place run is secured by Wesley Spencer (83).  Having one of his best runs of the season is Jeremy Quellette (21).  He finishes the event in a solid 5th place.

 Heat Race Activities

Building the order for each of tonight’s Mains began with as usual, the qualifying Heat Races.  What was different on this night was that all Seven Championship Titles would be decided at each Main’s conclusion.  With that in mind you would think most drivers would be cautious in assuring there ability to make the Main.  Instead, each Heat Race became the most aggressive and thrilling of all previous Bolles Series events.  Bringing added experience and tenacity to each new week…every racer demonstrated incredible talent

.Heat Race Winners:

 Wild Thing Tiger Cub Main

The Tiger Cub Main began with Joey Czarnecki (20) on the Pole Position.  Alongside would be Brody O’ Sullivan (O).  Led by the Pace Car for the 2nd time this season, the drivers would get the Green Flag.  Stepping on the gas first and grabbing a nice lead was Joey Czarnecki (20).

With fourteen racers following the #20 Kart into turn one, the sights and sounds were super.

Leading lap’s one-two and three, Joey Czarnecki (20) looked as strong as usual.  Though quick, it appeared the Karts of Brody O’ Sullivan (O) and Samantha Townsend (00) were each a bit quicker.

Lap number three and Caution flies for a spin in turn two.  During this caution the cold weather began to affect more than tires.   The cool air and hot heads began to collide as several drivers began to experience steaming of their helmet visors. Slow for a bit those in trouble would use their gloves to wipe them clear, or open the visor to gain some air.  It was a new problem for many.

The racers would demonstrate fast learning, getting re-aligned quickly for the restart.

Joey Czarnecki (20) was the leader with Samantha Townsend (00) 2nd.  Having secured his first career win last week, Trace Bayer (18) in 3rd looked just as strong, and had been flying through the turns.  Showing the strength he demonstrated throughout 2006, Brody O’ Sullivan was sitting 4th.

The 5th place Kart would be Kyle LaMothe (24), while Cory Wheeler (09) was sitting 6th.

Lining up Single-File the Green Flag would allow racing to resume with everyone doing a great job.  Joey Czarnecki (20) would use the Single-File start to gain a sizable advantage, but fast Karts would begin to close two laps later.

The Half-way marker sees strong performances throughout the field.  With Czarnecki (20) holding a comfortable margin, the battle is for 2nd through 4th.

Making a solid pass to advance to 3rd would be Brody O’ Sullivan (O).  Sliding a bit in each turn he grabs the spot and quickly begins chasing Trace Bayer (18) in 2nd.  Sitting 4th is Samantha Townsend (00), with Kyle LaMothe (24) in 5th.

It is a great run for many racers with clean and fast laps brining the race towards its conclusion.

With one-lap-to-go Brody O’ Sullivan’s (O) great run comes to a spinning conclusion.  He spins his Kart from a great 3rd place and drops back to 15th.  A super race ends in frustration after having such a great drive throughout the event.

Securing his second Tiger Cub win of the season, and 5th Podium finish is Joey Czarnecki (20).  Demonstrating his talent for Doughnut’s, Joey would spin through the infield with the Checkered Flag waving.

Coming in a very strong 2nd is Trace Bayer (18), with 3rd place going to Samantha Townsend (00).

Coming on incredibly strong over the final three laps would be Michael McGoldrick (1).  He would charge from mid-pack to finish 4th in the final race of the season.  Making a solid effort in every event during 2007, Anthony Young (95) developed his talent every week and would close the season with a super 5th place finish.

Competing in both Tiger Cub and Sprint A, Kyle LaMothe (24) would also raise the bar considerably over the course of the season.  A 6th place run would end his 2007 season.

Tyler Zilinski (07) would not have his usual speed in this final event.  Despite this, he would race hard and finish the season with a 7th place run.

Cory Wheeler (09) would blast the back stretch wall in the early going.  Spinning wildly in the air, he would never give-up.  He would re-aim his racer and speed back into contention securing 8th place.

Wild Thing Sprint B Main

The Bolles Kart Series-Sprint B racers would be the next competitors onto the raceway. Of all the Main's on this, the final night of competition, the Championship for Tiger B could swing either way among three drivers. This race would be hard and fierce.

Leading the field to the Green Flag would be Ryan Fearn (3). Outside the hard charger would Sean Formenek (27). Fearn would be looking for his 2nd win of the season; Formenek (27), his first.

Further back in the field a whole host of racers were looking for Victory. Both Joey Czarnecki (20) and Kyle LaMothe (2x) have used "seat-time" to gain valuable experience. Each has competed, and ran well in two Series categories. Joey Czarnecki runs the familiar #20 in Tiger Cub and Sprint B competition.  Kyle LaMothe runs his #24 in Tiger Cub, while his Sprint B racer carries the 2X.

As the Green Flag wave's tense racers scramble and Ryan Fearn (3) drops several places before the Caution Flag flies for several spinning race Karts.

Re-aligned the field grabs another Green Flag and hauls into the first turn. Fearn (3) again loses a few spot while Kyle LaMothe (2X) slides in behind Formenek's fast racer.  They pencil one lap into the book before caution again flies.

With only one lap recorded already wholesale changes have developed.  Kyle LaMothe (2X) and Joey Czarnecki (20) have advanced nicely, while Ryan Fearn (3) has had difficulty on each start.

Given the Green for a third time the stars of Tiger B struggle for traction. Kyle LaMothe (2X) steal the top spot from Formenek (27) while Joshua Gayman (95) and Devin O'Connell (43) begin to charge.

Frustration covers the drivers' faces as a fourth Caution Flag slows the field.  Kyle LaMothe (2X) seems to have traction control on the starts, while the rest of the field is having trouble.

Kyle leads Sean Formenek (27), Joey Czarnecki (20) Joshua Gayman (95) Devin O'Connell (43) Ryan Fearn (3) Keith Formenek (72) and Michael DiCarli (25) under the Caution laps.

Waving Green again the flagman watches as every racer carefully brings their Kart back to speed. Down the back straight Ryan Fearn (3) slices from 6th to 4th as Gayman (95) and O'Connell (43) nearly tangle.

A lap later Fearn continues his velocity and powers his Kart around Formenek (27), and Czarnecki (20). It is an illustrious move that gets the racer back onto the bumper of leader LaMothe (2X).  In two quick laps he is back in contention.

Down the back stretch Fearn (3) commits to the low-line looking to grab the lead. When LaMothe (2X) sees the rapid move he dives low into turn four as well.  At any other time in the season the move would have stuck. But on this cold night, LaMothe (2X) loses the rear of his Kart swapping ends to quickly to compensate. He drops from 1st to10th in the event.

With Fearn (3) firmly back in front the race is know fore 2nd through 5th.  Joshua Gayman (95) has really stepped up his program over the past few races and looked impressive again as he passed Devin O'Connell (43) for second place.

Joey Czarnecki (20) was beginning to have a bit of handling problems, but the racers looked well in control of his Karts handicap.  He was now 5th after passing Keith Formenek (72).

Alex Fearn (12) was sitting 4th on this lap but was working hard trying to catch the leader.

The final laps would fly by and all of the racer would pull together to maintain Green Flag racing conditions.

Driving to his 2nd win in 2007 would be Ryan Fearn (3).  After falling from the lead in the early going, the driver of the deep blue Kart would successfully scramble from the mid-pack to take the Victory.

Scoring a great 2nd place would be Joshua Gayman (95).  New to the Bolles Series this in 2007, this was his best finish of the season and secures a 3rd place finish in the Championship Points

Devin O'Connell (43) scores a super solid 3rd place run.  The finish brings him to 2nd in the Bolles Championship for Tiger B.  He has been one of the most consistent racers of 2007.

The 4th place finish secured by Alex Fearn (12) is one of that racers best as well.  Although not a contender for the Championship due to missed events, Fearn has proven he is capable in each event he's contested.

Joey Czarnecki (2) drives to a solid 5th place run in the finally.  The solid finish allows him to secure the Tiger B Championship for 2007.  He has become a very-aware racer. Watching others carefully he continues to position his Kart skillfully lap-after-lap-race-after-race.

Keith Formenek (72) would finish 6th, and Michael DiCarli (25) 7th.  I hope I stick around to see this group in 10 years as racers around the world will be chasing them.

Wild Thing Sprint A Main

The Bolles Karting Series Sprint A competitors would be next onto the raceway. Of all the Main's on this, the final night, the Sprint B Championship could swing anyway among three competitors. This race would be hard and fierce.

With the competitors working hard to raise the temperatures into their tires, the Tiger A Main would get the Green Flag.  On the Pole for the start would be Andrew Savage (88). After a strong Heat Race win, he looked impressively strong.  Peter Portante (4) would start the event on his outside.  Leading the Championship entering the final race, Portante could not sit back. The Title was still his to win, or lose.

The front pair of Portante and Savage has provided some of the most memorable races of the 2007 season.  With the Tiger A Championship on the line, the fans were preparing for another unyielding battle.

The Green Flag would wave and immediately caution would fly as JT Cloutier (13) would spin his Kart entering turn one.  Heat, heat, heat…everyone was looking for tires with warmth.  Cloutier (13) would be forced to drop-back to the rear of the field.

The flagman would wave the Green Flag for the 2nd time and the race would be on.  Grabbing the top spot would be Peter Portante (4).  Not letting Portante grab any advantage, Andrew Savage (88) would slide his Kart hard through each the turn maintaining the second place spot.

Three quick laps would get recorded and the battle between Portante (4) and Savage (88) would begin to stall.  Not having his usual handling, Andrew Savage (88) appeared to be having a difficult time with his Kart.  Stealing the spot with a nice move around the outside and into 2nd, Austin Bessette (54) was now on the move.

With four laps recorded Peter Portante (4) had a five Kart advantage. Like high speed Chess, Portante “B” has adapted well to the ever changing environments of racing.  Each week we have seen quicker speeds and better drives from everyone, and only those able to adapt survive.

The Half-way marker comes rapidly and the fierce battle for the Tiger A Championship began to re-emerge.  Portante (4) still had the advantage, but Andrew Savage (88) was back on the attack. He began working over Bessette’s (54) racer.

With Bassette nearly spinning at the half-way point, Savage was able to re-take the 2nd place spot.  Nothing was settled between Savage and Portante. The Title chase was still on.

On the move at Mid-pack were Brennan Duncan (28) and Branden Dion (11).  The past three events of the Bolles Series have been filled with moves of bravery by these two racers.  With both looking for the win, this event was far from over.

On the next circuit a very loose Austin Bessette (54) would unfortunately lose the rear of his Kart and spin from his 3rd place spot.  This would allow Brennan Duncan (28) to gain the spot as well as added Championship Points.

Over the next two laps Branden Dion (11) would continue his thrilling run.  While Peter Portante (4) continued his star drive at the front, Brennan Duncan (28) began to feel the heat from Dion (11) and his racer.

A lap later Brennan Duncan (28) would bobble down the front straight; appearing to lose some of the horsepower in his kart.  Unable to reach his usual speed on the back straight, he would watch Dion (11) drive to his outside in turn four and steal the position down the front stretch.

The drama of this event would again be far from over as the Caution Flag would wave. Duncan (28) would have the spot back for the re-start.

Like the Tiger Main, the cold weather was beginning to hamper more than the Kart tires. The cool air and hot heads collided here as well with many drivers experiencing steaming of their helmet visors. Slow for three laps those in trouble would use their gloves to wipe them clear, or open them to gain some air.  Like the Tiger Cub Main, it was a new problem for many.

There would be three laps remaining when the field received the Green Flag restart.  Sitting up-front was Peter Portante (4).  Behind him was still Andrew Savage (88) 2nd, with Branden Dion (11) in 3rd.

Though Dion (11) had only a slight chance of securing the Championship, his desire for winning races was greater than ever.  He still had the opportunity.

Green Flag waves and Peter Portante (4) quickly stands on the gas and opens a five Kart advantage.  Andrew Savage (88) powers to 2nd, but loses distance to the smoother-than-smooth Portante.

The Checkered Flag waves and Peter Portante secures his 5th win in a row, as well as his 2nd Championship honors in Bolles Kart Series competition.  Winning the Tiger B Title in 2006, his talent and capabilities continue to rise.

Grabbing 2nd place in the race, as well as in the Championship is Andrew Savage.  A strong competitor all season long, Savage (88) and Jason Enos (3) are the only two competitors to win over Portante in 2007.  Andrew Savage has driven incredibly well all season long.

Driving to a solid 3rd place finish would be Branden Dion (11). Not having the speed or luck of other racers, Dion finishes the season 5th in Championship Points.

JT Cloutier (13) drives a fast and steady race coming from Mid-pack to score 4th place.  He finishes the season 6th in Points.  Austin Bessette (54) drives to a phenomenal 5th place.  Racing at the front of the pack early, he would spin at Half-way, recover, and races back to a top five finish.  He secures 4th place in the Championship.

Wild Thing Junior Outlaw Main

The Heat's for the Junior Outlaw racers set the stage for the final Main that would determine the 2007 Junior Outlaw Champion. Starting on the point would be Jesse Ruocco (39). Another second generation competitor, Jesse has not completed the entire season, but has shown remarkable ability in his short career. Winning the first event of the season, he would be looking for win number two tonight.

To his outside would be Tom Walker (8). Walker too has increased his ability to be up-front each Main and would also be looking to secure his second win of the 2007 season.

The race would begin with the duel up-front. Tom Walker (8) would grab the initial lead and open up a two Kart advantage. Jesse Ruocco (39) would slot in 2nd and do his best over the first three laps.

With the Heat Race bringing the fans to their feet…this event would be the total opposite. It seemed every racer had great speed, but an inability to move-up or pass in the cool track temperatures.

The move of the race came at lap three as Peter Portante (12) would move from mid-pack to third.  With Jeffrey Gallup (6) and Dylan Kopec (16) battling hard, Portante would use the low groove to pass both contenders in one smooth swoop.

On the next circuit he would use the same move diving to the inside of Walker (8) first, and then Jesse Ruocco (39).  He would become the race leader at lap five.

The race between Kopec (16) and Gallup (6) would be equally short. Dylan Kopec (16) seemed content to stay away from any fierce battle.  Looking to secure the 2007 Bolles Junior Outlaw Championship, Kopec (16) would maintain a much slower pace than his usual fervor.

The race would go clean throughout its entire distance and Peter Portante would capture the Victory. This would be Peter Portante's third win of 2007 in the Junior Outlaw category; allowing the future star to secure 2nd place in Championship Standings.

Driving every lap as quickly as possible, Jeff Gallup (6) would grasp the 2nd place spot.  The solid run would one of his best during the 2007 season.

Finishing the Main nicely in 3rd place would be Ryan Serella (3).  Serella would be one of the strongest racers during the 2007 season. His 3rd place run would equal his Bolles Junior Outlaw Championship placement.  Tying Peter Portante (12) in points; Portante would move to 2nd with "Most Wins" in class.

The 4th place finish for Jesse Ruocco (39) was a great run - though not what he was working for.  A focused and dedicated racer, Ruocco will return in 2008 an even strong competitor.

Securing a strong 5th place run despite cruising in the Main would be Dylan Kopec (16).  The run would net the hard charger the 2007 Junior Outlaw Championship in the Bolles Karting Series. Dylan has worked hard throughout the entire season and drove the final race in "Safe Mode', keeping his Championship goal secure.

Wild Thing Senior Outlaw

The big boys of the Wild Thing Outlaw Series entered The Stafford Motor Speedway "Mini-Mile' with their usual exuberance. With Kyle Casagrande (7) starting from Pole and Paul Arute (14) alongside for the start, all eyes were on the front row.

Behind this potent duel sat Frank Le'Toile (21) and Mike Royce (23).  With Royce still looking for his first win; he knew this final event would be his last chance in 2007.  Sitting 5th on the grid would be Cory Burwood (1).  Burwood would be looking for his 2nd win of the season.

The Green Flag would wave and the immediate launch by Kyle Casagrande (7) changed the events tone.  The early evening warm-up set the tone for a very competitive event. It looked as though it would be a strong race between the two front-runners. That all changed on lap two as Casagrande (7) immediately set the standard of performance.

It would be another heavy serving of Casagrande Soup and the young racer would drive every lap fast and quick. The event would end with Casagrande capturing his 4th win in a row, and the 5th of the 2007 season.  Though Kyle has been a solid runner in every event entered, he missed one event in July (Trip to Daytona) which arrested his ability to capture the 2007 Bolles Karting Championship in Senior Outlaw.

At half-way Frank Le'Toile (21) would move underneath Paul Arute (14) to secure the 2nd place spot.  Arute would finish the race event in 3rd capturing the 2007 Bolles Karting Championship in Senior Outlaw competition.  Paul’s ability to steer from trouble while racing cleanly vaulted him in points every week during the Series.  Look for him as a solid contender in anything he races.

Mike Royce (23) would secure the 4th place spot, while bringing his points total to 300.  His dedication to racing boosts him to 4th in the season long Outlaw Championship.

Cory Burwood (1) would finish in the final spot. Running well throughout the entire season, the 5th place run would net him just enough points to secure 3rd place in the Championship Standings.

Gold Plate Main

The Gold Plate competitors used up Stafford Motor Speedway more than any class on Monday evening.  Driving as close to the walls down each straight, and diving to the bottom in each turn, their lap times where not far off the Medium racers.

Though only five racers competed it was a great show.  Starting on the Pole would be Nick Boivin (11).  Winning three straight Mains over the past three events Boivin was looking for win number four.

Outside Boivin (11) would be another Nick; Nick Hadden (41x) has been incredibly quick in each events and owns a total of five Victories in the Wild Thing Kart Series.

Behind the front row duel would be Adam Dion (28) and Brandon Chrétian (2).  Both these racers have only just begun to give Stafford Speedway their all; but it has usually been the Nick & Nick Show.

In the 3rd and final row would be John Fontaine (12).  Fontaine is also new to The Bolles Series having only appeared in one event to date.

The Green Flag would fly and both Nick Hadden (41x) and Nick Boivin (11) would get tremendous starts.  But diving into turn one first would be Boivin (11) His Kart looked fast and smooth on the corner entry and he appeared gone.

But down the back straight Nick Hadden (41x) would appear to get a shot of Nitrous Oxide and he would blast into the lead.  Boivin (11) tried to come back down the front stretch, but it was all Hadden (41x)

He would put on a Gold Plate drivers demonstration.  Smooth and fast into each turn his hands would hardly move.  Down each straight little movement would come from his Kart and he would continue to lead.

Taking the Victory; his 5th of the season, would be Nick Hadden (41x).  Driving a quick event as well would be Nick Boivin (11).  As usual it was the Nick & Nick Show at Stafford Motor Speedway.

Finishing a respectful 3rd would be Adam Dion (28).  His Kart still lacked the speed of the front runners, but he continues to improve each week.

The 4th place finisher was Brandon Chrétian (2).  The final position would go to John Fontaine (12).  He would have Kart problems and leave the Main in the early going.

Securing the Gold Plate Championship would be Nick Hadden (41x).   Driving fast and smooth in every event, his 5 visits to Victory Lane combined with his strong 2nd place runs provided the juice to place him above Nick Boivin (11).

Both runners continue to do well at Stafford Speedway as well as other National Kart events throughout New England.

 The Medium Main Final

The final Points Race of the 2007 Championship battle was about to be settled. Though a far-off dilemma, Glen Meisenhelder (41) could mathematically loose the title if he failed to finish the Main. Looking to grab the final Win and the possible Title was John Duvall (04).

The battle for 3rd through 5th was brutal as only 6 Points separated the three combatants.  Matt Fenn (1) held a slight advantage over Geoffrey Stevenson (9) and Wesley Spencer (83).  This truly was the closet battle in Bolles Karting with the three racers battling being some of the very best in Medium racing as well.

With Geoffrey Stevenson (9) on the Pole and Wesley Spencer (83) alongside, it was well-know that the run for the Championship would begin at the drop of the Green Flag.

Behind the front-row of Stevenson (9) and Spencer (83) paced Matt Fenn (1) and Glen Meisenhelder (41).  It seemed everyone on the grid had worked excessively preparing for the night.

At the drop of the Green Flag Geoffrey Stevenson (9) would swing wide to place his entry into one in the best possible spot. The only problem; Matt Fenn (1) had a quicker start and when Stevenson moved slightly right, Fenn blipped left diving below Stevenson (9) and Wesley Spencer (83).

He led the field down the back straight.

Passing Geoffrey Stevenson (9) and Wesley Spencer (83) almost as quickly would be Glen Meisenhelder (41). With less than one lap into the books lane changing and position swapping were everywhere.  Not one spot was the same.

Lap two gets recorded and Matt Fenn (1) is leading last years Champion, and current Points Leader Glen Meisenhelder (41).

Like the first event of the evening, Fenn and Meisenhelder bump-draft over the course. This time they quickly record seven laps and open-up a twenty Kart advantage over Geoffrey Stevenson (9).

While the drafting kept everyone’s attention up-front, moving nicely into 4th place would be John Duvall (04).  Looking to attach 40 Points to his total, Duvall wanted every point possible.

Caution arrives for the first time and the field is slowed from its frantic pace.

Matt Fenn (1) continues to lead the Karts of Meisenhelder (41), Stevenson (9), Duvall (04) Jeremy Quellette (21) and Geoff Nooney (23). Working hard to move closer to the front are Dan Wilson (18) and Matt Richards (29).

The Green Flag reappears and Matt Fenn (1) blasts into turn one. Glen Meisenhelder (41) sticks with the bright yellow Kart, but it appears Fenn has done his homework.

A lap later good runs go sour for Jeremy Quellette (21) and Geoff Nooney (23) as the two racers get together.  Quellette (21) has had a tough season at Stafford. Racing well and finishing 5th in The Pro-Kart Money Main he sees his this beginning success turn to frustration.

With five laps remaining in the Main the Green Flag waves. Entering turn-one Glen Meisenhelder (41) takes advantage of Fenn (1) and passes for the lead.  Geoffrey Stevenson (9) re-aligns his Kart and advances past Fenn (1) as well.

The pace is lightning fast as Glen Meisenhelder (41) and Geoffrey Stevenson (9) swap the lead with three laps to go.

They are three-wide and Matt Fenn (1) continues to hound the lead position. With the fans on their feet Geoffrey Stevenson (9) slips in turn four allowing Fenn (1) the 2nd place spot

It is Meisenhelder (41) leading Fenn (1) and Stevenson (9). With two laps to go John Duvall (04) moves to 4th in the race.

One to go and they are again three wide. This time only Fenn (1) and Stevenson (9) swap positions with Glen Meisenhelder sticking his Kart hard into the lead.

The Checkered Flag falls and Glen Meisenhelder (41) for the win. He drives his Kart to his eight Victory of the season and the 2007 Bolles Karting Series Medium Championship.

Equaling his best run of the season, Matt Fenn (1) wheels his bright yellow Kart to a solid 2nd place.  Fenn's (1) mid-season DNF and subsequent 6 point tally reside him to finish the Bolles Championship in 3rd place.

Geoffrey Stevenson (9) exchanged the lead several times before dropping back to finish 3rd.  The Championship sees him securing 4th in the final point tally.

John Duvall (04) comes from further back in the pack than any of the front-runners to register a 4th place finish in the final.  The run nets him 34 Points allowing him to squeak past Matt Fenn in the Championship standings and finish 2nd overall.

The 5th place driver in the final is Dan Wilson (18).  Wilson was continually out of the top five in the early season standing, but his hard work of lately has seen him driving closer to the front.  The final is his best run of this season.  He closes the season with 198 Points; 6th overall in the Medium Championship.

 The Champ Kart Main Finale

The 2007 Championship battle for the Champ Karts was about to be staged in 45 degree temperatures. Cool track conditions proved frustrating for many racers prior to the final race on R&L Paving night. Most likely more racers would experience the same.

Though Ron Medford Jr. (76) could mathematically battle Cory Pearl (38) for the 2007 Championship, he stood a better chance of racing unicorns. Cory Pearl (38) has been a study of quick and consistent over the nine race season. With three events falling to rain, additional points for Medford Jr. have difficult to grab.

Looking to grab the final win and advance to 2nd in the Championship is Evan Serella (33).  Sitting only 5 points behind Medford Jr. in third (280 Medford to 275 Serella), Serella stands a great chance to move one shy of the Championship Title.  It would be interesting.

After winning his Heat race Cory Pearl (38) would start on the Pole. Gavin Sorgham (55) would use his only Champ Kart start to stage to his outside.

One row behind the front pair would be Ron Medford Jr. (76) and Matt Fenn (1). Though the first three runners would grab much of the pre-race attention, Matt Fenn came to Stafford Motor Speedway using a totally different gearing for the final.

The Green waves and Cory Pearl (38) would not let any miscue or bump from behind wreck his chances. He would rocket into the first turn and immediately open an untouchable advantage.

With 5 Kart lengths separating him from Medford Jr. (76) all eyes and ears were on Matt Fenn. With different gearing Fenn (1) would struggle a bit in each turn, but gain one or two Kart lengths on each straight. With the added ability of diving into each turn he would soon pass Medford Jr. (76) for 2nd and continue to close on Cory Pearl (38).

A quick caution would slow the field slightly.  With great experience and talent in the seats of the 16 Champ competitors the shows stayed fast and clean despite the cool track.

Quickly the race would conclude and Cory Pearl (38) would dominate in lapped traffic as well as speed. Winning his eight race of the season and the 2007 Bolles Champ Kart Championship.

Though Matt Fenn (1) drove to a solid run in the event he would be defeated by tech. This would allow Ron Medford Jr. (76) to finish 2nd and raise the points needed to solidify his overall position (2nd place) in the season long Championship.

Running to a solid 3rd place finish in the final event would be Steve Wilson (25).  The run would be his best of the season allowing him to vault from 7th to 4th in Championship standings.

Gavin Sorgham (55) would race his first Champ Kart event at Stafford Motor Speedway and grab a solid 4th place finish.  His run was smooth and quick over the total distance and it will be interesting if he competes in 2008.

Pocketing 5th place in the Champ Kart finale would be Jeff Gaynor (27).  A consistent front-runner towards the later-half of the season, Gaynor (27) would complete his season 6th in Championship points

I would like to thank everyone for such a great season.

I have had the opportunity to witness over 3,100 racing events in the US and Canada including Formula One, Touring Cars, every NASCAR Division since 1965, and race events on Dirt, in DIRT, World of Outlaws and of course Karting.  From SKUSA on the West Coast to World Karting everywhere.

I would like you to know the events here at Stafford Motor Speedway stand-up equal with them all.  The drivers here have every bit of ability to go on to incredible fame and success.  I wish you all the best and success during the "off-season".
